Summary
The short version. Paid plans are billed in advance, in US dollars, on a monthly cycle that renews automatically. We do not offer refunds for change of mind, for the unused portion of a billing period, or for credits you have already used. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. If you are a consumer under the Australian Consumer Law, your consumer guarantees are preserved in full and cannot be excluded by anything in this policy.
Who you are contracting with
Appsanic is operated by Encode Digital Software Solutions Pty Ltd (ACN 690 774 719), a company registered in New South Wales, Australia (“Appsanic”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). This Refund & Billing Policy forms part of, and should be read with, our Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy, and the plan details published on our pricing page. Where this policy conflicts with the Terms of Service on a billing or refund matter, this policy prevails to the extent of that conflict.
This policy is governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Nothing in it is intended to limit, exclude, or modify any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded by agreement.
How billing works
Paid plans are billed in advance, in US dollars (USD), at the rates shown on our pricing page at the time you subscribe. Each paid subscription renews automatically at the start of the next period using your saved payment method, unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- Monthly billing only. Subscriptions are billed and renew on a monthly cycle, on the same calendar day each month. Annual billing is not yet available; it is on our roadmap, and if we introduce it the terms will be shown at checkout before you commit.
- Plan tiers. We currently offer a free plan, a Pro plan, and a Business plan. The free plan carries no AI build allowance; paid plans include a monthly credit allowance, AI build access, and progressively higher storage and feature limits. Current inclusions and prices are always shown on the pricing page.
Two kinds of credit. Credits meter your use of the AI build agent. Your account can hold two distinct pools, and they behave differently:
| Credit pool | How you get it | Expiry | Rollover |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly allowance | Included with your paid plan each billing period | Expires at the end of the billing period in which it was granted | None - resets each period |
| Top-up credits | Purchased separately as a one-time amount | Do not expire while your account is active; scoped to your plan family | Carry over until used |
Your monthly allowance resets and expires at the end of each billing period, with no rollover of unused allowance into the next period. Top-up credits do not expire while your account remains active, and they are scoped to your plan family. When a build runs, the allowance pool is generally drawn down before top-up credits.
Payments are processed by Stripe, our payment provider. We do not store your card number. Stripe holds your card data and carries PCI-DSS compliance; we only ever reference non-sensitive details such as the card brand, the last four digits, and the expiry date so you can identify the card on file. For more detail on the providers we rely on, see our sub-processors page and our security overview.
Invoices and receipts
Invoices and receipts are issued through Stripe and are available from your account under Account then Billing through its individual hosted invoice link. Each invoice records the plan, the period covered, the amount charged, and any applicable tax. If you need a copy of an invoice that you cannot locate, email contact@appsanic.com and we will resend it.
Cancellation, downgrades, and failed payments
You can cancel at any time from your account billing settings. How cancellation takes effect depends on the option you choose:
- Cancel at period end (default). Your subscription does not renew, but you keep full access to your paid plan, including any remaining monthly allowance, until the end of the period you have already paid for. At that point the account reverts to the free plan.
- Immediate cancellation. Where you choose to cancel immediately, the account reverts to the free plan straight away and any remaining monthly allowance credits expire. Immediate cancellation does not, on its own, trigger a refund of the current period (see No refunds for change of mind).
- Downgrades. If you move to a lower paid plan, the change and any difference in price take effect according to the options shown at checkout. Plan inclusions, allowances, and storage limits adjust to the new plan.
Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, your subscription enters a short grace (dunning) period during which Stripe retries the charge and your credits stay usable. We may email you to ask you to update your payment method. If payment is not completed by the end of the grace period, your account reverts to the free plan and paid features become unavailable until billing is restored.
No refunds for change of mind
Subject always to your Australian Consumer Law rights (see Your Australian Consumer Law rights), we do not offer refunds for:
- Change of mind after you subscribe to a plan or buy top-up credits;
- The unused portion of a billing period when you cancel part-way through a cycle;
- Partial periods of access where the Service has been made available to you; and
- Credits already consumed by the build agent, whether or not the generated output met your expectations. AI output is inherently variable, and a build consuming credits is not on its own a failure to supply the Service.
If you cancel, your subscription continues through to the end of the paid period (unless you chose immediate cancellation) and then does not renew. We encourage you to evaluate the free plan and the published plan inclusions before subscribing.
Your Australian Consumer Law rights
If you are a consumer as defined in the Australian Consumer Law (the ACL, being Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)), our supply of the Service comes with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified. Among other things, the guarantees in sections 54 to 62 of the ACL mean that:
- services will be rendered with due care and skill;
- services will be reasonably fit for any purpose you make known to us, or that we represent they are fit for, before you enter the agreement;
- services will be supplied within a reasonable time where no time has been fixed; and
- services will be supplied for a reasonable price where no price has been fixed.
Major versus non-major failure. Where we fail to meet a consumer guarantee and the failure can be fixed and is not major, you are entitled to have us remedy the problem within a reasonable time; if we do not, you may have it remedied elsewhere and recover the reasonable cost from us, or cancel the contract. Where the failure is major (for example, the Service is substantially unfit for its ordinary purpose and cannot easily be made fit, or differs significantly from what was represented), you may cancel and obtain a refund for the unused part of the supply, or keep the contract and recover compensation for the reduction in value. In either case you may also be entitled to compensation for any reasonably foreseeable loss or damage caused by the failure.
Consistent with section 64A of the ACL, where the Service is not of a kind ordinarily acquired for personal, domestic, or household use or consumption, our liability for failing to meet a non-major consumer guarantee is limited (at our election) to resupplying the services or paying the cost of having them resupplied, except where it is not fair and reasonable for us to rely on that limitation.
Nothing in this policy, our Terms of Service, or any other Appsanic document limits, excludes, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the ACL or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you believe you have a claim under a consumer guarantee, contact us at contact@appsanic.com and we will work through it with you in good faith.
When we will refund
In addition to, and without limiting, your ACL rights, we will consider and, where verified, grant a refund or service credit on a discretionary basis in the following situations:
- Duplicate charge. If our billing system charged you twice for the same plan or purchase, we will reverse the duplicate charge.
- Extended outage we caused. If the Service was unavailable for a sustained period due to a fault on our side, we may issue a pro-rata service credit to affected accounts for the period of unavailability.
- Unauthorised charge. If your payment method was used without your authorisation, tell us immediately. Where we verify that the charge was unauthorised, we will refund it and help secure the account.
- Failure to deliver a specifically promised feature. Where we specifically represented to you that a feature would be available on your plan and we did not provide it, we will work in good faith toward a refund or service credit.
These discretionary refunds are assessed case by case. They are separate from, and do not reduce, any remedy you are entitled to under the Australian Consumer Law.
How to request a refund
There is no in-product refund button. Refunds are handled by email. To request one, write to contact@appsanic.com from the email address on your Appsanic account and include:
- The email address on your Appsanic account;
- The date and amount of the charge; and
- A short description of what happened and the outcome you are seeking.
We aim to acknowledge refund requests within 2 business days and to resolve them within 10 business days. Approved refunds are issued back to the original payment method through Stripe. Once we process a refund, your bank or card issuer may take additional time to show it on your statement, which is outside our control.
Chargebacks and disputes
Please contact us before filing a chargeback or payment dispute. In most cases we can resolve a billing issue faster and more completely than a card issuer can, and an email to contact@appsanic.com is the quickest path to a fix.
Filing a chargeback without first contacting us may result in your account being suspended pending the outcome of the dispute, so that we can investigate and respond to the card issuer. Raising a dispute does not remove or reduce your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, and you remain free to pursue those rights at any time.
Taxes
Prices on our pricing page are quoted in US dollars (USD) and are the amount charged. We do not currently add tax at checkout, so the price you see is the price you pay, and that amount appears on your Stripe invoice.
You remain responsible for any tax obligations in your own jurisdiction. If we become required to collect tax where you are, the tax will be calculated and displayed at checkout before you confirm, and this policy will be updated. If you are unsure how tax applies to your purchase, email contact@appsanic.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Refund & Billing Policy from time to time. Where a change materially affects the terms on which we bill or refund, we will give you reasonable notice by email to the address on your account before the change takes effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Nothing in any update to this policy diminishes your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
