Common questions
Plain answers, before you start.
What Appsanic is, what is free, how Sanic AI and credits work, and what still happens outside it.
Everything in one place.
Getting started
What is Appsanic?
A workspace for making a mobile app. You design screens on a visual canvas, write real code when you want to, connect the services you already use, and run the result in a browser preview as you build. Sanic AI, the built-in assistant, can plan and build screens and code for you.
Everything works on one description of your app, so a change on the canvas, in code or from Sanic AI lands in the same place.
See how it worksDo I need to write code?
No. Screens, actions, themes and connections are all set up visually. The code workspace is there when you want more control, and Sanic AI can write code for you on a paid plan.
The code is ordinary TypeScript and React Native, so anyone who does code can read and change it.
What do I get on the Free plan?
The whole editor: the visual canvas, the code workspace, themes, connectors and the browser preview, with one project, 100 MB of asset storage and 5 starter templates. Sanic AI is not included on Free.
Compare the plansIs my work saved?
Yes. Projects live in your account and every accepted change is saved with its history, so you can undo and return to it later from any browser. Code you are still typing in the workspace belongs to the current session until it is applied.
You can export a project and delete it, or your whole account, from the dashboard.
Plans and credits
What is a Sanic AI credit?
One credit covers one cent (US$0.01) of model usage. A request is metered on what the model reads and writes, at the rate of the model you chose, so a small Lite edit costs far less than a deep Pro build. Visual editing and the code you write yourself never spend a credit.
What happens when I run out of credits?
Sanic AI waits until your next billing period, or until you add a top-up pack, from 150 credits for US$10. Everything else in the editor keeps working. Included credits reset each period; purchased credits keep until you use them.
Can I change or cancel a plan?
Yes, from Billing in your account. A change takes effect at your next billing period, and you keep your current allowance until then. You can cancel at any time.
Can I buy a paid plan today?
Paid plans and hosted Sanic AI are being opened in stages and carry a "Coming soon" badge until they are. A free account gives you the editor, the code workspace, themes, connectors and the starter templates now.
Design and Sanic AI
Does Sanic AI edit the same app I am designing?
Yes. It changes the same project through the same checks as your own edits. Each change is validated and compiled before it lands, it joins the shared history so one undo takes it back, and if your edits overlap its proposal you decide what happens.
What Sanic AI doesWhich model should I choose?
Lite for small, economical changes such as a label or a colour. Core for everyday building: new screens, flows and services. Pro for complex changes across many screens, code and data. Each has three effort levels, Quick, Balanced and Thorough.
Will Sanic AI use my theme?
Components whose colours and fonts are linked to your theme follow it, whoever made the change. Ask Sanic AI to use your theme when you want new work to pick it up, and set explicit colours yourself in the Inspector when you want something to stay independent.
Can I use the editor without Sanic AI?
Yes. Design, Code, themes, connectors and the preview work without it. Sanic AI is an addition, not a requirement.
What is a custom component?
A building block you define yourself. It can be a shared design made from existing layers, so every copy updates together, or a component written in code and registered so it appears on the canvas like any other.
When to make oneCode and connectors
What code does Appsanic produce?
TypeScript and React Native. Every project has an App.tsx that renders your visual app, and you add components, hooks and services beside it. Typed interfaces describe your screens and components, so code and design stay in step.
Can I bring my own code and libraries?
Write any TypeScript and React Native in the code workspace, and prepare supported packages from Code's Libraries view. The workspace reports what will not run on a phone before you find out on a device, and it never runs your source inside the editor itself.
What happens when I connect a service?
You enter the public details the connector asks for, check the connection, and from then on your code and Sanic AI can build with it. Your app talks to the service directly; nothing goes through Appsanic. Connecting does not create tables, permissions or a finished feature.
See every connectorWhich keys are safe to enter?
Only the kind a client app may hold: a Supabase publishable key, a RevenueCat public SDK key, a public App ID or DSN, a search-only Algolia key. Secret and service keys are refused, and Sanic AI never sees the values you enter.
How keys are handledTesting and release
Can I test on my phone?
Phone testing opens your project in Expo Go from a QR code, with live updates as you edit. It works in the local editor and is coming soon on the hosted site. Features that need a native build, such as purchases and push notifications, cannot be tested in Expo Go.
Read the testing guideCan Appsanic publish my app to the stores?
Not yet. App settings collect everything the stores ask for, and release checks tell you what is missing. Signing and submission still happen outside Appsanic; signed builds and store submission from Appsanic are coming.
Does the browser preview prove my app works on a phone?
No. The preview runs your real app in a browser, which is excellent for fast feedback but cannot reproduce every native permission, sensor or rendering detail. Test on a phone, and use a native build for features that need one.
Account and data
How do I sign in?
With your email address and a password of at least 12 characters, verified by a code sent to your email when you sign up. An existing account can also sign in with a link sent by email.
Who can see my projects?
Only you. Every workspace is personal and owner-only on every plan. There is no sharing or team access today.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes. Export a project, or an index of your account, from the dashboard. Deleting a project or your account is permanent and asks you to confirm it explicitly.
Read about your dataWhere do I report a security concern?
By email, privately. The contact page explains what to include and what to leave out.
