Know where your money goes

A personal finance starter. The dashboard shows available balance, this-month income and spending, and per-category budget bars that turn red over a cap. Activity lists transactions grouped by day with a category filter and coloured stripes. Add or edit transactions with an amount field, expense/income toggle, and category and day pickers. Insights draws a weekly spending bar chart and week-over-week trend. Money is stored as integer cents on your own Supabase project with email sign-in and RLS.

What you can do

A complete personal-finance starter app. A Home dashboard shows your available balance plus this-month income and spending and per-category budget bars (over-budget rows turn red); an Activity feed lists every transaction grouped by day; an Add/Edit form captures amount, expense/income type, category, day, merchant, and note; and an Insights screen charts your weekly spending and compares this week to last. It runs on your own Supabase project, so you first connect a backend and sign in (or tap Preview with sample data) before your real budget appears - it does not work out of the box without that connection.

Data model

customers
One row per signed-up user (mirrors auth.users); holds email and display name. Read-only to its owner.
categories
Spending categories owned by a user: name, colour, optional monthly cap in cents, and sort order.
transactions
Expense or income entries (amount in cents, type, merchant, note, occurred-on date) owned by a user and optionally linked to a category.

Backend

Row Level Security on all three tables, scoped to auth.uid(): customers is read-only to its owner; categories and transactions allow full CRUD only on the owner's own rows.
Trigger function handle_new_customer (SECURITY DEFINER) fires via the on_auth_user_created trigger on auth.users to auto-create the customers row on signup, deriving a display name from metadata or the email.
Trigger function touch_updated_at (SECURITY INVOKER) fires via the trg_transactions_touch trigger to keep transactions.updated_at fresh on every update.
Realtime enabled on categories and transactions (added to the supabase_realtime publication) with REPLICA IDENTITY FULL so DELETE payloads carry owner_id for live multi-device sync.
Money stored as integer cents and dates as local calendar days so totals stay exact.
No storage buckets, no Edge Functions, and no other SECURITY DEFINER RPCs beyond the handle_new_customer trigger function.
