A complete AI study-buddy starter. A subjects grid (configured in your own Supabase) with coloured top-accent strips and level/XP, a per-subject tutor chat with user / tutor bubbles and thinking dots, an AI-generated quiz graded server-side, and a progress screen with an SVG streak ring and per-subject XP bars. The AI runs in a Supabase Edge Function that holds your provider key server-side, so it never ships in the app. Includes a sample-data preview before you connect a backend.

It runs on your own Supabase project and the AI runs in a Supabase Edge Function that keeps your provider key server-side, so it does not work the moment you open it: you first land on a Connect screen to wire up Supabase (or tap 'Preview with sample data' to look around), then sign in before the tutor goes live.

Data model

customers
One row per user (mirrors auth.users); holds display name and current/longest streak state.
subjects
The public subject catalogue (name, slug, colour, glyph, blurb, sort order), managed in the Supabase dashboard.
subject_progress
Per-user, per-subject XP; written only by the server-side RPCs, read-scoped to the owner.
chat_messages
The per-subject tutor thread (role user/tutor, content), private to each learner.
quiz_attempts
A record of each graded quiz answer (question, choices, correct/selected index, is_correct, explanation); created only by the grader RPC.
quiz_questions
Pending generated questions with the real correct answer; RLS-locked with no policies so the client can never read the answer - only the Edge Function and the grader RPC touch it.

Backend

Row Level Security on every table: customers/subject_progress/quiz_attempts are owner-read-only, chat_messages is full CRUD on your own thread, subjects is public-read, and quiz_questions has RLS enabled with NO policies (the answer stays secret).
Trigger on_auth_user_created runs handle_new_customer() (SECURITY DEFINER) to auto-create the customers row on signup.
SECURITY DEFINER RPCs: touch_streak(text) bumps the daily study streak; record_quiz_attempt(uuid, integer, text) grades against the stored question, awards 10 XP for a correct answer, bumps the streak, and consumes the pending question. A bump_streak(uuid, text) helper does the timezone-aware streak math.
Realtime: chat_messages, subject_progress, and customers are added to the supabase_realtime publication for live chat and streak/XP updates.
Edge Function 'tutor' (Deno) holds the Anthropic key as a secret and serves two modes - chat (returns tutor text) and quiz (generates a question, stores it with the service role, returns only id + choices). JWT is verified before it runs.
No storage buckets.
Only the Supabase anon key ships client-side (safe behind RLS); the AI provider key and service_role key never reach the app.
