What you can do

This is an app for discovering get-togethers happening near you and RSVPing to them. You scroll a feed of upcoming events, filter by category and by date (Anytime, Today, or This week), peek at a stylised map showing where things are happening, and tap into an event to say you are Going, Maybe, or Not going, see who else is coming, and bookmark it. You can also host your own event with a cover photo, place, time, and capacity. It runs on your own Supabase project, so it opens on a Connect screen until a backend is added (with an optional sample-data preview to look around), then on sign-in.

Data model

profiles
One row per signed-up user: username, display_name, avatar_url, bio, city, plus denormalised hosted_count and attended_count.
events
Hosted gatherings: host_id, title, description, cover_url, category, starts_at, ends_at, venue_name, venue_address, public lat and lng, capacity, and going_count and maybe_count counters.
event_attendees
RSVP pivot keyed on (event_id, user_id) with a state of going, maybe, or not_going; drives the event counters.
saved_events
Private pivot of (event_id, user_id) marking events a user saved for later.

Backend

RLS on every table: profiles, events, and event_attendees are world-readable, while writes are scoped to the owning row via auth.uid(); saved_events is fully private to the saver (read and write by user_id only).
Column-level UPDATE grants restrict clients to editable columns so the denormalised counters (going_count, maybe_count, hosted_count, attended_count) can be written only by SECURITY DEFINER triggers, never forged by a client.
Triggers keep counters in sync so feeds never aggregate at read time: bump_host_count (trg_host_count) maintains profiles.hosted_count, and apply_attendee_change (trg_attendee) adjusts events.going_count, events.maybe_count, and profiles.attended_count across insert, update, and delete of an RSVP, shifting both event counters in one pass on a Going to Maybe change.
handle_new_user runs on auth.users insert (trigger on_auth_user_created) to auto-provision a profile with a unique, slugified username via insert-and-retry.
Realtime: only events and event_attendees are added to the supabase_realtime publication, so subscribed clients see new events and RSVP changes live; saved_events is intentionally not published because it is private.
Storage: a public event-covers bucket (5 MB limit, jpeg/png/webp) is created by the schema, with read open and insert/update/delete scoped to each user's own folder.
Indexes on events by starts_at, by (host_id, starts_at), and by (category, starts_at), plus event_attendees by (event_id, state) and by user_id, and saved_events by (user_id, created_at). No Edge Functions.
